Body Pigmentation Toning
착색토닝 · also: 착색 치료, underarm whitening, body dark spot laser, intimate area toning
Laser toning aimed at darkened skin on the body rather than the face — underarms, knees, elbows, heels, the bikini line. It's a standard, cheap item on Korean menus and almost invisible in English-language guides, which is why visitors rarely know it's an option.
A short questionnaire and dose mapping — usually done the same day, right before treatment.
How it works
Low-fluence laser toning passes break up excess melanin in the treated area across repeated gentle sessions rather than one aggressive pass. Body pigmentation is usually caused by chronic friction, shaving or inflammation, so a course only holds if the underlying cause changes too — which is a large part of the honest answer here.
Pigment laser · acts at 0.3–1.5 mm · deepest layer: Dermis
Where collagen and elastin live. Almost every 'skin quality' treatment is aimed here.
Depths are indicative and vary by device, cartridge, body area and individual.
Pigment laser
Very short pulses are absorbed by melanin and shatter pigment into fragments the body clears over weeks.

FAQ
Does it work permanently?
Only if what caused the pigmentation stops. Friction from tight clothing, shaving irritation and chronic inflammation will darken the skin again. Laser handles the existing pigment; it can't outrun an ongoing cause.
Why does this need so many sessions?
Body skin is thicker and the pigment usually deeper and more stubborn than facial spots. Low-fluence toning is deliberately gentle to avoid making pigmentation worse, which means slow and repeated rather than fast and aggressive.
Is it safe on darker skin?
It requires care. Deeper skin tones carry a higher risk of both post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and paradoxical darkening. Conservative settings and a doctor who asks about your skin type are essential.
Would hair removal help the underarm darkening more?
Often, yes. If shaving is the driver, laser hair removal addresses the cause while toning addresses the symptom. Many people need both, and it's worth asking a clinic to be honest about which is doing the work.
Price range by care tier
Market ranges for reference — actual quotes depend on the clinic, doctor and area.
Before you compare quotes: what this price is actually per
- Priced per treated area, and clinics define 'area' differently. Ask exactly which zones your quote covers.
- A flat per-visit price. The thing to check is how many visits the full course needs.
Priced per area per session and genuinely cheap — ₩30k for a standard area and ₩60k for the bikini line in one Seoul list. Clinics normally require you to pick one area per session price, so a multi-area plan multiplies fast. Confirm what counts as one area.
Won prices quoted above are from a dated reference price list for one Seoul clinic chain (2026-07-24), used to show the shape of pricing — not a national average, and not a quote. Prices include 10% VAT: the foreign-patient cosmetic VAT refund ended on 31 December 2025.
