Pico Toning

피코 토닝 · also: Pico laser, 피코슈어, 피코웨이

Picosecond laser pulses shatter melanin into finer particles than older lasers — favored for stubborn melasma, freckles and an overall brightening 'toning' effect with little downtime.

How it works

Ultra-short picosecond bursts break pigment by photomechanical (not just heat) action, so it clears pigment with less risk of the post-inflammatory darkening that worries pigment-prone skin.

FAQ

Why does toning need so many sessions?

Because each pass is deliberately gentle. Low-fluence toning breaks pigment down gradually to avoid the rebound darkening that aggressive settings cause — particularly with melasma. Five to ten sessions is normal, not upselling.

Pico or Q-switched?

Picosecond pulses are shorter, so they shatter pigment more mechanically and with less heat, which generally means less risk of pigment rebound. Q-switched lasers are older, cheaper and still effective for straightforward sun spots.

Will one session brighten me for an event?

You'll get a mild glow, but any real pigment change is cumulative. And treated dark spots often darken briefly before flaking off, so don't do this two days before a wedding.

Is it safe on deeper skin tones?

Better than most pigment treatments, because low-fluence settings and short pulses reduce heat. Still, insist on a doctor who asks about your skin type and starts conservative.

Before you compare quotes: what this price is actually per

per session
  • A flat per-visit price. The thing to check is how many visits the full course needs.

Flat per session — ₩49k in one Seoul list, with a focused spot treatment for individual dark marks at ₩150k. Toning is explicitly a course treatment, so the number that matters is the session price times 5–10 visits.
