Volnewmer

볼뉴머 · also: 볼뉴머 리프팅, third-generation monopolar RF

A Korean monopolar RF device built as a direct answer to Thermage. Same family of technology, but it cools the skin with continuously circulating water instead of bursts of cryogen gas — which is why patients consistently rate it as less painful, and why a full face takes about half the time.

How it works

Monopolar radiofrequency at 6.78 MHz passes through both the upper and lower dermis, heating collagen to roughly 40–60°C. Existing collagen fibres contract immediately, and over the following weeks fibroblasts build new ones. The surface is protected by water circulating at 12–20°C, applied continuously rather than in pulses.

Treatment depth — 1–4 mmSkin cross-section from the surface to 12 mm deep. Monopolar radiofrequency acts from 1 to 4 mm below the surface, reaching the Fat layer at its deepest. Radio waves warm a broad volume of the dermis at once while the surface is actively cooled, so collagen contracts and regrows.14 mmSkin surface0 mm24681012Epidermis · 0–0.2 mmDermis · 0.2–3 mmSMAS · 4.5–6 mmFat layer · 3–8 mmMuscle · 6–12 mm

FAQ

Volnewmer or Thermage?

A 2025 split-face comparison against Thermage FLX found comparable collagen and elastin improvement with meaningfully lower pain scores for the water-cooled system. Thermage has two decades of track record and brand recognition; Volnewmer is newer, faster and gentler, and usually costs less in Korea. Neither is a clear winner on results.

How many shots do I actually need?

Ask for a full-face count before comparing prices. 300–600 shots is the normal range for a face; anything quoted at 100 shots is treating one zone.

When will it show?

There's some immediate tightening from collagen contraction, but the real change builds over 2–3 months as new collagen forms.

Before you compare quotes: what this price is actually per

per shot
  • Ultrasound lifting is sold in shots (lines of energy). 100 shots treats a small area; a full face is usually 300–600. Compare price ÷ shots, never the headline.

Priced per shot, and this is where quotes stop being comparable. 100 shots is a small zone; a full face is normally 300–600. A headline price attached to 100 shots can look less than half of a rival's full-face quote while being the more expensive treatment per unit of skin. Eye-area tips are priced slightly higher.

Won prices quoted above are from a dated reference price list for one Seoul clinic chain (2026-07-24), used to show the shape of pricing — not a national average, and not a quote. Prices include 10% VAT: the foreign-patient cosmetic VAT refund ended on 31 December 2025.
